“A True Story” Synopsis & Info

You can read a full film synopsis for one of Katrina’s new films, “A True Story”…

A True Story is a film within a film…within a film, as we see the real side of Hollywood as lived in by struggling actors. The story is not, however, inclusive to the LA scene. It’s a story about resisting temptation and maintaining integrity. It’s about keeping track of what’s really important in life, the people that really love you and would do anything for you, however imperfect they might be.

Mike (Cameron Fife) and Matt (Tyler McGee), are best friends and roommates who have struggled as actors for two and a half years.

Along the way they have been able to write a screenplay, a vehicle for them both, which they are sure will lead them to success. They even have a perspective buyer, Jason (Malcolm Goodwin), a friend from the neighborhood who is the assistant to the big time Hollywood producer Richard Simpkins (Jon Gries).

It is soon apparent the script they have written is actually an allegory for their own lives. Meanwhile, Mike’s ex- girlfriend Deanna (Katrina Bowden) has suddenly moved into town, and is trying to re-kindle her relationship with Mike.

Mike and Matt’s struggles are now more than just where their next meal will come from, as they fight to not only keep themselves attached to their script, but also to remain friends through the turmoil brought on by both greedy Hollywood producers and slutty ex- girlfriends.

1st Team Entertainment has also informed me that there will be a film poster and trailer coming soon! The film was also submitted to the Sundance Film Festival and 30 other festivals – so I want to wish the film good luck with the festival circuit!

“Tucker and Dale Versus Evil” Trailer

There is now a red-band trailer for one of Katrina’s upcoming films, “Tucker and Dale Versus Evil”… You can view it below!

The film is still unsold, so there is no release date for the film yet.

Katrina Bowden rocks at 21

Katrina Bowden is coming to celebrate her 21st birthday in the Magic City. What better place when you’re finally legal?

The actress — who plays Tina Fey’s sexy, much younger assistant on 30 Rock — will be at LIV Saturday night. The New Jersey native — who just wrapped filming the comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil — chatted with us briefly:

Any plans during your stay?

“I’m planning on going to the spa for some relaxation time, hanging with friends at the pool and beach, enjoying the great restaurants and hopefully trying a few water sport activities one afternoon.”

What’s up with your TV character Cerie?

“I cant give away any secrets, but this season [four] is more focused on the ensemble cast and more in-office story lines. As for my character, I don’t even know yet! We don’t find out which direction our character is going or what specific story lines there will be until we get the scripts. It’s a surprise for us too, which makes it fun and exciting every week.”

Were you blown away with the success of the show?

“I was. Don’t get me wrong — I always knew that the show was extremely well written and had the potential to be huge and respected, but it’s always hard to tell what will stick. The first season is always tough because you are hoping to find your audience, but the show has really caught on, and people have come to really like and respect it.”

How were the Emmys?

“Really fun and very busy. It’s like being in an energetic rush all weekend. There is so much to do and plan beforehand, but once I’m at the show, I am always so excited and happy. Being with the rest of my cast and celebrating the wins together is great — it’s like we are a big family and all in it together. It’s also so cool and humbling to be in an auditorium with so many of my favorite actors and to be in the company of such great talent.”

Katrina to star in “A True Story”

Katrina will be in a new independent film called “A True Story”… She will play Deanna, the ex-girlfriend of one of the main characters. You can check out the press release below!

30 Rock’s Katrina Bowden To Star In Indie
Hollywood, Ca, April 26th – With a summer off before shooting the Emmy Award winning sitcom’s 4th season, Katrina Bowden of NBC’s 30 Rock has inked a deal with Team Awesome Films to star in their first feature, an adaptation of the play “A True Story. Based on things that never actually happened. …and some that did.” Bowden took part in a series of workshop readings before the screenplay was optioned by TAF. Malcolm Goodwin wears several hats as co-star, director and producer. Goodwin has a string of films under his belt including American Gangster, Leatherheads, and the upcoming Tim Allen release Crazy on the Outside. Word from the costume designer is that he will actually wear several actual hats during the film as well. “Back in New York I produced a ton of shorts and music videos, and I’ve been itching to direct a feature. This script really spoke to me, it’s real. And it’s funny!” said Goodwin, who also took part in the first staged reading of the play in New York. “This isn’t just the play on screen. This is it’s own movie, and it’s good. I’m hyped.”

A True Story tells the story of Mike and Matt, two struggling writers who own nothing and share everything, including their life’s work, a screenplay which seems to be their only escape from the harsh realities of an anonymous Hollywood life. Bowden will play Deanna, Mike’s heartless ex-girlfriend who once again sticks a passion wrench in the spokes of his life bike just as the boys face the toughest decision of their lives. Hollywood is just the back drop of this moving and hilarious film about friendship, greed, and slutty ex-girlfriends.

Also in the cast is Jon Gries, Kelen Coleman and Keith Loneker. Cameron Fife and Tyler McGee, who penned both play and screenplay, and will star as well. Principle photography begins May 1st and will be shot in and around the Los Angeles area. Based out of San Francisco, Team Awesome Films was formed to produce A True Story, and several future projects are in development. Brandy Jones with NYABIS Productions is also producing.

You can follow the production of the film and learn more about it at Team Awesome Films
